FC Bayern has announced the opening of a new FC Bayern Football School at Addis Ababa stadium on April 18, 2019. Ethiopian Football Federation President Mr Isayas Jira and Board member of the FC Bayern Mr Jorg Wacker put their signatures on the MOU. The signatories were accompanied by the Bavarian state minister president Dr Markus Soder ,Ethiopia sport commission commissioner Erstu Yirda and Ethiopia Football Federation Executive committee members.

Ethiopian football federation President Mr Isayas Jira said ” We are glad to work with FC Bayern because this is a start to build strong national team. In Ethiopia there are many talents, these talents need a good mentor and coaches. The Key for having successful national team is with this project, I would like to give my appreciation to FC Bayern for planning to work with Ethiopian Football Federation. I hope this school will contribute many talents to the world.”

Minister President of the Bavarian state Dr. Markus Söder said: “FC Bayern is one of Bavaria’s biggest attractions. Now, the FC Bayern Football School in Addis Ababa brings together Bavarian expertise in football with a sports-mad nation. That is a good basis for a promising partnership.”

“With the FC Bayern Football School in Addis Ababa we are opening our first football school of this type in Africa,” said Jörg Wacker. “This gives us the opportunity to bring our fans in Africa even closer to FC Bayern and, with the help of our expertise, make an important contribution to the development of football in Ethiopia.”

His Excellency Mr Erestu Yirda sport Commission commissioner of Ethiopia has also addressed” Ethio Germany friendship is the key for this agreement and we are glad to work with FC Bayern.”

Former FC Bayern forward and ambassador of FC Bayern Brazilian Giovane Elber also said ” The young footballers he saw in Addis Ababa are the same with young footballers in Germany and Brazil. The only difference is lack of experience and good mentor.”

The partnership with  FC Bayern includes an ongoing exchange of experience plus the regular presence of youth coaches from FC Bayern to train local players and coaches in Addis Ababa.

During this ceremony there was FC Bayern U17 youth tournament Ethiopia between 8 clubs which based in Addis Ababa. Those clubs were selected by Ethiopian Football Federation technique department in collaboration with Addis Ababa Football Federation. FC Bayern U17 Youth Tournament finalist were Medin FC and St.George Fc and the trophy goes to Medin U17 football club. All participants and the winner collected the medal from former FC Bayern forward and ambassador of FC Bayern Brazilian Giovane Elber.

Following on from USA, China, Thailand, Japan and Singapore, Ethiopia is the sixth country where FC Bayern has established a Football School.
